This great boots and jeans affair is the largest single night fundraiser for cancer research and the theme is “Sapphires and Spurs.”
Joining the American Cancer Society will be two of country music’s best bands, Zac Brown Band and The Charlie Daniels Band, who will be performing throughout the night. The exciting evening will conclude with an after party that goes on until 2:00 a.m.!
Since its inception in 1974, the Cattle Baron’s Ball committee has raised over $77 million for research through the American Cancer Society. In recent years, the net profit from their annual events has ranged between $3 million and $4 million. Well known efforts funded in part by the Cattle Baron’s Ball through the American Cancer Society include:
- The development of a PSA screening test for prostate cancer
- Discovery of genes for inherited colon and breast cancer
- Development of Tamoxifen, Herceptin and Rituxan to treat breast cancer
- The development of ACS’ Clinical Trials Matching Service which connects patients with more than 64,000 different treatment options.
